Being such an expansive city, we decided to stay in the downtown area. We wanted to see a bit of the city before flying back to Manila
Casa Fuerte is a quaint bed and breakfast located near Puerto Princesa’s City Coliseum.
The rooms at Casa Fuerte Bed and Breakfast are small. I had trouble understanding the thought behind the bathroom design. Outside, it’s more cohesive. A small lawn with nipa cottages framed by the bamboo and stone walls of the rooms. An effective scheme, making you feel you’re far from the city.
We particulary liked the dangit breakfast at the bed and breakfast’s small restaurant. Staff are super nice.
DIY Downtown City Tour
With time to spare after our Puerto Princesa Underground River Tour, we wanted to see a bit of the city.
We were only able to visit the Immaculate Conception Cathedral and Plaza Cuartel beside it. The afternoon heat proved too much for me. We ended the day sipping on iced coffee at one of the nearby malls.
Tricycles are your best bet going around the city. Fare ranges from 50 to 60 pesos to about anywhere in downtown Puerto Princesa.
If you want to see more of the city, I suggest joining one of the group city tours. You’ll see more places and enjoy the convenience of having air-conditioned transport.
Downtown Puerto Princesa is a great place to start if you’re looking for accommodations. There’s something for everyone. From budget stays to luxurious hotels.
Being the city center, there are tons of tour operators in the area. Many will pick you up directly from your hotel. If you want to go the DIY route, transportation is not going to be a problem.
